With the holidays comes a lot of traveling. If you plan on flying somewhere, you may be dreading the effects of how air travel can wreck havoc on your skin. A short flight can have some people landing with patchy skin, oily skin, or even a crop of new zits that come out of nowhere.

To make it worse, you’re traveling to see people that you probably don’t normally see, and want to look your absolute best. Making a once or twice a year impression on them with a fresh breakout is incredibly annoying, especially if family photos will be taken.

There are a few things that you can do to help prevent unexpected skin issues when flying.

1.

Hydrate

There is very low humidity in a plane cabin, which causes skin dehydration since the air will keep pulling moisture from wherever it can. Bring a big bottle of water on the plane with you and keep sipping on it throughout your flight. It will help keep your insides from going out of wack.

2.

Don’t Mist Your Skin

On the Renée Rouleau blog, their experts say to not mist your skin and their reason makes complete sense. Once you mist your skin the air around will keep sucking it dry, giving you even drier or oilier skin than when you started, depending on your skin type.

3.

Wash Your Face

As soon as you can, once you land, go and wash your face. You want to clear out your pores and give yourself a clean slate. Apply a great serum and finish off with a very hydrating moisturizer.
