We’ve made it. It’s spring again and that means there is some beautiful and vibrant produce to check out.
Enjoying fresh foods in season is a great way to help shake things up throughout the year. Let food spark a memory, honor a tradition, or create a new habit! Now especially seems like a great time to create new traditions for ourselves and our loved ones. Different foods and recipes can shake up a mundane week and keep things interesting. Introducing new flavors could also help you move past the last year by jolting your tastebuds awake with new experiences.
An ingredient I’ve been inspired by lately is an old standard – arugula. Arugula is a fun, easy way to spice up the ordinary. It’s got a nice peppery quality to it that can transform a sandwich, burger, or breakfast.
Arugula is also so great for us. It’s rich in chlorophyll, high in vitamins B and K, and has especially high amounts of folate which can help prevent cognitive decline. Here are some cool different ways to use arugula in your day-to-day:
Salads:
Obviously, arugula goes great in a variety of different kinds of salads. It combines surprisingly well with sweet flavors like fruit. Arugula is a cancer-fighting power food, so anytime you can work it into your meals is a good thing. Plus, I love the taste – it didn’t get the nickname “rocket salad” for nothing!
Yummy Addiction’s Arugula, Prosciutto, and Grilled Pear Salad

Pesto is so perfect in the spring and summertime. It’s refreshing on a warm evening and feels much lighter than a white or red sauce. Arugula will help add a little spice and variety to any routine dish.
Breakfasts
The first time I had salad with breakfast I thought it was weird, but I thought iced coffee was weird once upon a time as well. I’ll have greens in the morning more often than not now.
