Healthy Living Pantry Necessities

Peppers

Don’t get me wrong, I love to indulge here and there when it comes to food, but for everyday living, I feel that it’s very important to treat my body in a healthily manner. Vitacost.com is one of my favorite online food destinations to get my pantry stocked up so I’m fueled and ready to face the day. See some of the items I insist on always having readily available.

Starwest-Botanicals-Organic-Spirulina-Powder-767963073464

Starwest Botanicals Organic Spirulina Powder, $17.21

Spirulina tastes super salty and of the sea, but when used sparingly, you can’t even tell it’s there. It’s an algae that contains protein, vitamins, is considered to be an antioxidant, and is anti-inflammatory.

Vitamin D

Vitacost Vitamin D3, $11

Since I try not to be in the direct sun for too long and because I’ve cut back a lot on dairy, I have to get my vitamin D in through pill form. Get a blood test done to see what you might be lacking.

Bobs-Red-Mill-Organic-Old-Fashioned-Rolled-Oats-039978019523

Bob’s Red Mill Organic Old Fashioned Rolled Oats, $4.39

Oats are really filling and can be eaten hot, used for overnight oats, and even blended into a smoothie. Definitely a must for my kitchen.

Huy Fong Foods Sriracha Chili Sauce

Huy Fong Foods Sriracha Chili Sauce, $4.76

Not only does sriracha taste fantastic, but spicy foods speed up your metabolism. Um, yes, please.

Modern Products Spice Garden Turmeric

Modern Products Spice Garden Turmeric, $2.39

Turmeric is the hot spice of the moment. It’s thought to have healing properties for organs and makes for a great detoxifier. Add to hot drinks or mix with your everyday cooking as a seasoning.
